We finally have a candidate in the Columbia Basin!

Jay Clough is running against Doc Hastings for the US House of Rep. Jay Clough was born and raised in the Tri-Cities.  Jay served in the United States Marine Corps as a Light Armored Reconnaissance Infantryman. Upon the completion of his active duty commitment, Jay used the GI Bill to attend Central Washington University, earning Bachelor’s degrees in both Pacific Asian Studies and Chinese Language.During his time as a student, Jay studied abroad at both Beijing University in Beijing, China and Ewha University in Seoul, South Korea, where he met his wife Erika.  Jay then spent three years teaching English in Japan.

Jay currently is an IBEW member and works out at Hanford for Washington River Protection Solutions, on the clean-up effort.

Jay's opponent Doc Hastings signed a "Contract with America" in 1994, promising to serve no more than six terms.  He is now running for his ninth.  In 16 years, he has authored and passed a total of six bills.  He sits on only one committee. He has already missed 45 votes in this session alone. Mr. Hastings has one of the worst voting records on labor issues in congress. We deserve better.

Our Local represents Bargaining Units at Avaya, AT&T MobilityCenturyLink, Dex, Northland Cable, Qwest Communications, and various print shops. The geographical area we represent includes Eastern WA and parts of Montana and Idaho. At Local 7818 we serve our members through organizing, community and political action, and representation. We need your input. Help us be the voice of the working class that this country so desperately needs

We want to see our employers be successful and flourish. Unfortunately, companies have a tendancy to show little or no respect to their working class employees. The concerns of working families are every bit as valid as those of corporate interests. Union members know that working families have the right to be heard in the American political process. Without their voice, there would be no employer-provided health care, no minimum wage, no overtime pay, no job safety protections, and no retirement or job security. 

Why Join a Union?

Do you ever feel like there is no one fighting for your interests? Unions need to get back to their roots and once again be the voice for all of the working class.

Union members earn better wages and benefits than workers who aren’t union members. On average, union workers’ wages are 30 percent higher than their nonunion counterparts. While only 14 percent of nonunion workers have guaranteed pensions, fully 68 percent of union workers do. More than 97 percent of union workers have jobs that provide health insurance benefits, but only 85 percent of nonunion workers do. Unions help employers create a more stable, productive workforce—where workers have a say in improving their jobs.
